You'll
find great trout fishing in our many lakes, rivers and streams, stocked
with locally-raised, world famous trophy-size Alpers rainbow trout.
Mammoth Lakes Basin offers wonderful trout angling opportunities for
Rainbow, Brook, and Brown Trout. The Lakes are noted for consistently
producing trophy-size fish, perfect for hanging on the den wall. |
| Join
in the fun of one of the numerous fishing derbies, held throughout
the season. Check our summer events calendar for upcoming derbies.
Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, Lake Mamie, and Lake George regularly receive
plants from the Department of fish and game. Rainbow trout have been
known to run in the 8 pound range, while the Alpers trout get as big
as 12 pounds. |

Rock
Creek Canyon, Convict Canyon, and June Lake Loop are full of mountain
lakes and streams. Crowley Lake is another favorite, great for those
who love fishing in deep waters. Fly fishing is best along the San
Juaquin River in the Red's Meadow area. At Hot Creek, try your luck
on catch-and-release fishing with barbless hooks. |
